About Figurines:
Herend has been manufacturing fine porcelain at our historic pottery in Hungary for 200 years. Each piece is entirely hand painted with hand-applied 24k gold accents.
Each Herend figurine undergoes a laborious process to be created out of the finest materials by a skilled porcelain artisan and then is hand-painted with extreme detail. The porcelain used to manufacture Herend figurines and dinnerware is the finest you can find anywhere in the world. Herend products are made from a hard-paste porcelain using a mixture of kaolin, feldspar and quartz. After multiple firings, they are hand-painted with Herend’s trademark fishnet pattern design found on most of the figurines today. It is this use of the finest materials combined with the large amount of highly skilled labor and 100’s of years of experience that goes into each piece which makes these artful creations so valuable.

How Herend Began
Herend holds a rich history spanning many years, crossing many oceans and charming generation after generation to enjoy worldwide acclaim as the pinnacle in supreme porcelain, also known as “white gold.”
Now the biggest porcelain manufactory in Europe, Herend was founded in 1826 to produce earthenware in the small Hungarian village for which it was named. At the time, Hungary was flooded with low-cost pottery, so competition was fierce. In 1839 a major turning point occurred when Mor Fischer became the Manufactory’s new owner. Taking Herend in an entirely new direction, visionary Fischer carved out the unique niche of producing dinnerware replacement pieces for Europe’s royal families to complement their valuable porcelain patterns from Germany and the Far East.
