In honor of the upcoming Preakness Stakes, here's a little bit of history about the Maryland Julep Cup! Maryland has been home to many talented craftspeople. As a matter of fact, it is still home to the talented craftspeople here at Salisbury! We chose the graceful and functional designs of the presentation cups made by Andrew Ellicott Warner of Baltimore (c. 1805-1870) to represent the state. A Salisbury mini-history lesson in honor of the upcoming derby: Our Kentucky Julep Cups were inspired by the designs of such early American craftsmen as Asa Blanchard of Lexington, KY and William and Archibald Cooper of Louisville, KY. The pearl design was ...

In honor of the upcoming Belmont Stakes, here is a little history on the New York Cup: Actually called a beaker, Salisbury's New York Cup recreates the work of such early masters as John Will of New York City, 1752-1774 and William Kirby of New York City, 1760-1793. Taller and more graceful than the styles of other areas, the New York Cup reflects considerable refinement of taste and craftsmanship.
