Esteban Prieto started blowing glass over 45 years ago at Mills College and California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland (now California College of the Arts). In the early '70s, he founded Prieto Studios in West Oakland with his mom Eunice and brothers Mark, Peter, and Paco. They built a glass hot-shop where Esteban started making his famous glass tumblers and other handcrafted pieces. Prieto Studios became a hub for amazing artists like Andreas Lehmann, Mary White, and Bruce Bortin. In 1993, Esteban moved to St. Louis to open a ceramics, glass-blowing, and flame-working studio with his wife, Nori Obata, who is a porcelain ceramicist and glass-jewelry artist. Esteban’s glassware has been featured in galleries, shops, and craft shows across the U.S.
