Bernardaud China may appear delicate, but is in fact the hardest-wearing of all ceramic tableware. It owes its resilience to the fact that it is fired at much higher temperatures than other ceramics, including earthenware, vitreous porcelain, or bone china. Most of our current collections are dishwasher-safe with the use of a non-acid based, gel detergent.  Typically, powdered detergents are too corrosive on our porcelain and should not be used.  Additionally, any dishwasher liquid (gel or powder) which contains lemon essence, which is acidic, should not be used.  Also, please note that patterns without metallic decor are microwave -safe.  For the best care of your porcelain, we recommend that it be washed by hand.
